We are extremely appreciative of the networking opportunities, dedication, and meaningful relationships that the George Washington Carver Community Center (GWCCC) has built and maintained throughout the many years of serving our community. In or around February 2026, the GWCCC was honored to receive a grant from ARKEMA that enabled us to host an engaging monthly program focused on the different components of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

The program provides youth with opportunities to explore various S.T.E.A.M. disciplines through hands-on workshops, educational experiences, creative learning, and meaningful engagement with professionals and community partners. Through this initiative, the GWCCC is able to expose youth to areas of learning and career exploration that can help build confidence, encourage curiosity, develop problem-solving skills, and inspire them to consider future educational and career opportunities in S.T.E.A.M.-related fields.

Our program is designed to ensure that every Explorer has an opportunity to participate, learn, contribute, and see themselves as capable of pursuing opportunities within S.T.E.A.M. field(s).  Each month, our young Explorers have the opportunity to learn through hands-on workshops, interactive activities, and engaging educational experiences. In addition to their learning activities, participants are provided with a healthy meal and snacks, helping to ensure that they are supported both educationally and physically throughout the program.

The S.T.E.A.M. Builders program has created an exciting and inclusive environment where Explorers can learn, explore, ask questions, be creative, and envision themselves as future scientists, engineers, artists, mathematicians, and technology professionals. Through hands-on learning, positive mentorship, and meaningful engagement, we strive to make S.T.E.A.M. education accessible, engaging, and meaningful for every participant.

A central part of our program's mission is to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for all. We believe that every young person deserves access to educational opportunities, supportive relationships, and experiences that encourage them to recognize their strengths and potential. By creating an environment where youth from different backgrounds can learn and participate together, the S.T.E.A.M. Builders program encourages collaboration, respect, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

We are deeply grateful to ARKEMA for its investment in our youth and for supporting the GWCCC's continued efforts to provide innovative educational programming and meaningful opportunities for young people in our community. This partnership has helped us create experiences that extend beyond the classroom and encourage our youth to explore, dream, and recognize their potential to make a difference in the world.
